Making My Pool Even More Beautiful

After years of having a pool, I could tell that it really needed a little tender loving care. I started talking with different pool contractors, and I was able to find a professional who could help. He worked with me to completely renovate the entire deck that surrounded the pool, and then he even helped me to balance the chemicals. I was really impressed with how much better things became, and after it was finished I felt like my pool looked brand new. I wanted to start a new website all about creating a gorgeous pool, because I know how much of a difference a great backyard can make.

3 Common Swimming Pool Repairs

Having a swimming pool in your own yard is a great way to keep cool in the summer, not to mention a fun way to socialize with family and friends. The hardest part about owning a pool is maintaining it. Also, you need to know what to do in case something goes wrong with your swimming pool.

In order to help you stay afloat of your swimming pool problems, here are three common pool repairs you should know about.

1. The Filter Needs Cleaning

No matter what kind of pool you have, you need to have a way to keep the water clean. Most swimming pools have a filtration system. The type of system largely depends on the size and type of your swimming pool. Filtration systems usually consist of the following parts:

  • Pump
  • Filter
  • Chlorine generator

Dirt and debris get removed from the pool when the water goes through the pump and into the filter. If you have a really good filtration system, it will also remove bacteria from the water. After the water gets filtered, it goes through the generator and back into the pool via the return jets that are located on the walls of the pool.

If the filter isn't cleaned on a regular basis, it will become clogged. When this happens, it's harder to remove dirt and debris and the water in the pool will become cloudy.

2. The Chlorine Levels Are Out of Balance

Chlorine is an important chemical for the pool as it helps to keep the water free of bacteria and other contaminants. However, if you don't have just the right amount of chlorine in your pool, it will cause problems. Too little chlorine won't keep the water safe, and too much chlorine can actually cause harm to those swimming in the pool.

In fact, over-chlorinated pools can cause chlorine poisoning, which results in symptoms such as difficulty breathing and skin irritation. To be on the safe side, you should get your chlorine levels tested.

3. There are Cracks In Your Pool

There are many reasons for cracks in the pool. Some types of cracks are completely normal as they may be there because of a flaw in the design when it was installed. Other kinds of cracks may mean your pool is more susceptible to leaking.

No matter what the reason for the crack, pool resurfacing is one way to fix it. Other reasons pool resurfacing is a good idea is when you notice staining, the pool's surface materials are starting to break down, or you want to update the look of your pool.
